NASHUA – Bishop Guertin High School boys ice hockey coach Gary Bishop refers to his 2012-13 squad as “A bunch of guys named Joe.”
But against Nashua High School South on Saturday at Conway Arena, the Cardinals may have made a little more of a name for themselves.
The Panthers gave BG an early battle, but wilted in the second period en route to a 9-2 loss.
“This was a good way to go into (a tough week ahead vs. Londonderry and Pinkerton),” Bishop said, his team now 4-2 in Division I, 5-4 overall. “We haven’t been getting a lot of goals, so now we’ve finally got some goals.”
The Cardinals led 3-0 after one period but poured it on with a five-goal second period, during which they outshot South (0-6, 3-6 overall) by a whopping 24-3 margin.
Chris Arling had two goals and two assists on the day, while Matt Robinson had a pair of goals. Evan Dalaker had a goal and two assists, while Reed Farhat chipped in with a goal and an assist.
