NASHUA – A family was displaced after an apartment fire Monday morning at 119 Lock St. Smoke was showing from the multiunit building when fire crews arrived shortly after 7 a.m. The fire started in a kitchen in one of 15 apartments in the large, L-shaped building, and firefighters knocked the blaze down before it could spread to other apartments, Deputy Fire Chief Brian Rhodes said. “They kept it from escalating,” Rhodes said. Only adjacent apartments were evacuated and not the entire building, because the blaze was extinguished so quickly, he said. A family living in the unit, including one adult and two children, ages 5 and 6, had left the building before firefighters arrived. The American Red Cross is providing assistance to the family. No one was injured, officials said. The apartment currently is uninhabitable, but isn’t beyond repair, Rhodes said. “They’re going to have to do some renovations.
